The Thing about Rabindra Sangeet

Today was a more or less uneventful day besides bringing my grandpa home. Sitting at home feeling very jobless and surfing the internet i came across some very favourite Tagore songs. Out of it i am most engrossed by Amaro Porano Jaha Chay. It is a sad romantic song and its lyrics go somewhat like this

Amaro porano jaha chay ,tumi tai , tumi tai goo.
Tuma chara ar jogoty mora keho nai, kichu nai goo.
Tumi shukh jodi nahi pao ,jaao shukhero shondhany jaao.
Ami tomarey peyechi hridoyo majhe, ar kicho nahi chai goo.
Ami tomaro berohey rohibo bilin, tomatay koribo baash
Dirgho Dibosho ..Dirgho rojoni, Dirgho borosho mash .
Jodi aro kare bhalo bhasho .Jodi ar firy nahi asho ,
Tobe tumi jaha chaw taha jeno pao, ami joto dukho paaai goo.

The strange thing about Tagore songs is that there is a a song for every occasion, every mood, every thought. Right now this was my thought and i found a song right which expresses it! Ok no point imagining. Oh so I am madly in love with someone who is not with me. 25th Baishakh which is roughly 8th or 9th of May used to be a very special day, Tagore's birthday. Firstly because it used to be the day when the summer vacations started. Secondly because we could all dress up in sarees (mostly white sarees with the red border or yellow sarees) and there would be no classes. Invariably one song was a must "Hey nuton, dekha di bar bar...". Somehow i never used to get the tune right for it. Although i was in a convent school still Tagore's birthday is very special in all schools within Bengal. Even in college the trend was same. These two years that i was in Bangalore i missed it so much. I think Tagore is integrated in the blood of every Bengali who loves the language.

Little out of context. Grandpa is really giving trouble and he is not eating at all. He is outrageously angry that he has been moved from one place to another. I am feeling very bad for him.
